This site is a tribute to Yvonne Hamblin, who was born in the Forest of Dean on June 29, 1944.

A very much-loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, best friend, and mentor - we will all miss her immeasurably.

Louise (daughter), Jon (son-in-law - and unlike most they had a great relationship!), and Craig (grandson) would like to thank everyone who has been so kind and supportive following Yvonne's death.

In particular:

To Tracey, Yvonne's best friend for over 30 years, and someone she enjoyed a mother-&-daughter-like relationship with: thank you for being there for us every step of the way, for offering guidance & support, and for being so actively involved in planning the funeral.

To Rob & Barb, for being such good friends to Yvonne over the decades, organising what we know will be a beautiful musical tribute to Yvonne at the funeral, and in Rob's case for offering to speak at the funeral - it's an excellent eulogy to Yvonne but we don't envy you the heart-wrenching task of reading it out on the day.

To the members of Lydbrook Band who will be playing music at the funeral (four of the pieces Yvonne selected herself), to Liz Lane for composing a piece of music especially for Yvonne when she heard about her death, and for the Bearers from the band who will bring Yvonne into Lydbrook church on the day.

Donations to the family's selected causes can be made via this website, or via cheque to the funeral directors, Ernest Heals (made payabe to 'Ernest Heal & Sons Donations Account'). They will be split evenly between two causes that were extremely close to Yvonne's heart:

The Donkey Sanctuary, Sidmouth. Our yearly visits with Yvonne to the Sanctuary always capped off our annual holiday. The pleasant, tranquil surroundings and adorable donkeys were a favourite of Yvonne's.
Lydbrook Training Band. Yvonne was very dedicated to Lydbrook Band and loved helping to teach and mentor the next generation of musicians.

The death occurred at home on 16th April of Yvonne Hamblin aged 74 years.

The funeral service took place at the Church Of The Holy Jesus, Lydbrook on Wednesday 15th May with Reverend Clare Edwards officiating.  On entry to the church The Lydbrook Band played The Girl With the Flaxen Hair.  The hymns There is a Green Hill Far Away & Jesus, Lover of my Soul were sung by the congregation. Yvonne’s eulogy was given by Mr Robert Morgan MBE & the Lydbrook Band performed Serenata for Yvonne (composed by Liz Lane) & Benedictus from the Armed Man during a period of reflection.  On leaving the church, the Lydbrook Band played Lydbrook.

There followed a private family committal ceremony at Mile End Cemetery.
